Ingredients

A Wicked Whisk Rib Rub

  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • 1 tsp chipotle powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp ancho chili powder (optional)
  • 4 tsp brown sugar

Easy Slow Cooker Ribs

  • 3 lbs spare ribs beef or pork
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 large onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup favorite BBQ sauce

Instructions

  • Remove the ribs from the store packaging, wash and pat dry and trim off any large sections of excess fat and any silver skin membrane left on the back of the rack
  • In a small bowl, combine all ingredients for the rib rub and then apply rib rub liberally to both sides of the rib rack
  • Add the chicken broth to the slow cooker and then the entire spiced rack of ribs. Add chopped onion on top of the ribs and set slow cooker to Low. Cook for 6-7 hours or until meat is tender and pulls away from the bone
  • Transfer ribs to a cookie sheet pan and brush with BBQ sauce. Set oven to Broil and when broiler is ready, slide pan of ribs right under the broiler for 3-5 minutes or until sauce has carmelized
  • Remove and serve immediately
