As someone who writes recipes for a living, inspiration is everywhere. This White Feta Cheese Pizza is proof of that!
I have been in love with the white garlic pizza from one of my favorite pizza joints for .. um .. like 25 years now.
But when it comes to white pizza recipes, I am different than most in that I am not a fan of ricotta cheese on my white pizza.
So why is this white pizza recipe different than the other 1,000,000 white pizza recipes??
I tossed out the ricotta cheese. Problem solved!
The reason why I have been in love with the white pizza from my neighborhood pizza joint is that instead of using ricotta cheese, they use feta.
Boom!
feta cheese pizza
But wait! What is white pizza? Simply, white pizza is a pizza without any sauce.
So why toss the ricotta cheese off the white pizza? What did it ever do to you? Are you mad at it??
Meh.
I like ricotta cheese in certain dishes like Easy Baked Ziti, White Chicken Lasagna and even my Cheesy Hashbrown Breakfast Casserole.
But when it comes to white pizza, feta cheese is my hands down favorite.
I like that it’s a soft cheese that still has a bit of attitude. You bite into it and you know you are biting into a little chunk of cheese with a bit of texture.
Add to that ridiculous amounts of fresh minced garlic, a bit of red onion, some seasonings and then top it all off with handfuls of shredded mozzarella cheese..
(drool!)

how do you make feta cheese pizza?
Remove your pizza dough from the refrigerator. If your pizza crust is in a can, carry on with making your white pizza. No additional wait time is needed.
If your pizza dough is from a bakery, let sit out for about 1 hour to come to room temperature before moving forward.
When ready, start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees then spray a large baking pan with non-stick spray.
If your pizza dough comes with it’s own specific bake time, follow those instructions.
Place pizza dough on your baking sheet and using your fingers, stretch dough out to fill the pan.
Brush entire crust with olive oil.
Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, salt and red pepper flakes on to crust.
Add most of the red onion and all of the fresh garlic.
Add an even layer of Parmesan cheese and feta cheese.
Sprinkle with most of your fresh basil before topping with the shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and crust turns slightly golden brown.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with remaining red onion and basil.
Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
pro tips for perfect garlic pizza
- This feta cheese pizza has a TON of garlic in it. If you want to reduce the amount of garlic, only add 1-2 cloves of garlic to this white pizza recipe.
- Store bought pizza dough can be found in the refrigerated section where cans of rolls often are. Check out the bakery section of your grocery store to see if they also sell pizza dough. That is MY favorite place to buy my dough.
- Let your pizza dough come to room temperature if you are not using pizza dough from a can. First, cold dough is tough to roll and stretch. Second, by letting it come to room temp, it will expand and that is a good thing!
- Pre-shredded bags have additives to keep the cheese from clumping together which often means it won’t melt right and is often time greasy. Fresh grating is best but if you can’t, be sure to grab a good quality pre-shredded cheese, like Sargento.
- Throw your garlic cloves in a mini food processor to make mincing them less work.
- Feta cheese comes in either a block or pre-made crumbles. Either is fine as you will be crumbling your feta on your pizza.
- I bake my garlic pizza using a 15×10 jelly roll pan. It’s slightly larger than a standard baking pan. That means more pizza!!
