Baklava Cups
Baklava Cups are your new best friend this holiday season. Baklava cups are the reincarnation of pan baklava but without all of the mess but with all of the sweet buttery flavor.. and super cute too!!
Let’s be completely honest, December is a free for all. All year long we count our calories and watch our carbs and add up every little gram of fat. Then December rolls in and it’s like a prison furlough for food lovers!! You think I’m over exaggerating? Stop and think about how many spoonfuls of raw cookie dough you have eaten in the past 3 weeks … umm hmmmm … that’s what I thought.
But before we return to our our diet apps and salads, I have one word for you … baklava!!!
WHAT IS BAKLAVA?
Baklava is many many layers of phyllo dough brushed with melted butter and laid in the pan. A layer of chopped nuts—typically walnuts or pistachios—is placed in between the layers of phyllo and it is baked and slathered in honey. Lord! … Sweet, nutty, buttery, messy, gooey, perfect baklava. That’s what it’s real name should be because if there is one sweet treat that deserves the whole royal introduction, it’s baklava.
WHAT THEN ARE BAKLAVA CUPS?
Baklava Cups are the easier, less messy version of baklava. Made using little pre-made phyllo cups, Baklava Cups are filled using a mixture of different kinds of spiced nuts, baked and then drizzled with honey. You have all of the nutty decadent flavor of baklava in a fraction of time and trouble.
HOW DO I MAKE BAKLAVA CUPS?
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients (except the phyllo cups) together in a large mixing bowl and lay out phyllo cups on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Then spoon the nut mixture into the phyllo cups until they are full. Bake the Baklava Cups for 10-12 minutes and then remove from them from the oven and drizzle with a bit more honey. Serve immediately!

Ingredients
- 2 packages phyllo cups (15 cups each)
- 2 cups mixed nuts , chopped (I used pistachios, walnuts and almonds)
- 2 tbl butter , melted
- 1/3 cup honey .. plus a little more for drizzling
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbl sugar
Instructions
- Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees
- Mix all ingredients (except the phyllo cups) together in a large mixing bowl
- Lay out phyllo cups on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- Spoon mixture into phyllo cups until full
- Bake for 10-12 minutes
- Remove from oven and drizzle with a bit more honey
- Serve immediately
