Ever have one of those days when you don’t know what you want for dinner, you don’t know what’s in your pantry, you don’t know what has thawed out from the freezer and you are pretty sure the milk expired about 15 minutes ago? Yup .. that pretty much sums up last Sunday and the creation this this Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Pork Chops recipe. See, I near fatally injured myself cleaning up the garage (gross overstatement but whatever) so I wasn’t heading out to the store, I did not .. could not .. would not eat one more piece of George Foreman seared marinated chicken and I was missing ONE ingredient from EVERY one of my usual go-to easy dinner recipes. Ugggggggg!!!
So in the interest of self-preservation of mind, body and sanity, I decided to pull down my trusty slow cooker and make some magic happen. Pork chops are always a must have in my house and with so many delicious easy pork recipes floating around the internet, pork is always an easy choice when it comes to making healthy dinner ideas when I have burned myself out on winner winner chicken dinners. So I grabbed up my thick cut pork chops, whipped up a tasty little honey garlic sauce and poured everything in my slow cooker. I wish I could explain how good the house smelled with those honey garlic pork chops simmering away all afternoon…. mmmm!!!
FROZEN PORK CHOPS?
Eeek!! You forgot to take your pork chops out the freezer yesterday.. do you need to thaw your pork chops before putting them in your slow cooker? There is much debate over this topic but the answer is no, you don’t need to defrost your pork before adding it into your slow cooker. Simply cook your slow cooker pork chops on Low for 8 hours or on High for 4 hours and you will be rewarded with the most delicious pork dinner.
WHAT DO YOU SERVE WITH HONEY GARLIC PORK CHOPS?
These Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Pork Chops are super versitile and can be served up along any of your favorite side dishes like mashed parsnips, macaroni and cheese or even scalloped potatoes. I had a box of white rice on hand so that was the perfect side to serve up my pork with.
MODIFICATIONS, IF YOU PLEASE..
- This Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Pork Chops recipe is great for one or many .. by that, I mean if you are having company over or have a family larger than two people (#me) then all you need to do is double this recipe as needed. As called for, this recipe is perfect to make 3-4 pork chops but if you need more, just double the ingredients for as many as you need.
- You always want to add a pop of color to your dinner plates so think about garnishing these pork chops off with a bit of parsely, green onion or chives.
- This honey garlic sauce is just a bit spicy but if you prefer to leave out the sriracha, that’s perfectly fine. This sweet and savory pork chop glaze is delicious either way.
HOW DO YOU MAKE SLOW COOKER HONEY GARLIC PORK CHOPS?
Easy! To make these Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Pork Chops, add your thick cut pork chops to the bottom of your slow cooker. In a medium sized mixing bowl, add ketchup, minced garlic, soy sauce, honey, spices and sriracha and mix well to combine. Pour your honey garlic sauce over your pork chops and cook on Low for 4-6 hours. Once cooked, remove your pork chops from the slow cooker and set aside. Bring four cups of water to boil in a covered pot and once boiling, add in the instant rice and butter. Stir to combine, recover the pot and remove from heat. While your rice is cooking, pour the remaining honey garlic sauce into a sauce pan and add the cornstarch to a half cup of chicken stock or reserved honey garlic sauce. Whisk to combine the cornstarch until the mixture is smooth with no lumps and then pour the mixture into your saucepan, whisking to combine. Bring honey garlic sauce to a low boil and simmer for 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened up a bit. Serve up your Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Pork Chops on a bed of rice and garnish with parsley, green onion or chives.

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Pork Chops
Ingredients
- 3 thick cut pork chops .. bone in or bone out
- 4 large cloves of garlic .. minced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1-2 tablespoons sriracha .. depending on taste
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup chicken stock, water or reserved sauce
- 4 cups instant rice
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions

Made this tonight with a homemade rice pilaf and zucchini, and it was really tasty. I didn’t do the cornstarch thickening part I just slowed cooked 6 small boneless pork chops on low for 6 hours in the sauce and it was good! Will make again.

You mentioned in the post low for 4 hours but at the top you mentioned low for 8 and high for 4 hours. Can you clarify which temp/time please?
Hi Brittany!! They should cook for 4-6 hours on Low or 3 hours on High :)… 7-8 hours on low if your pork is frozen.
