Peanut Butter Chocolate Kiss Cookies (aka Peanut Butter Blossoms) are the perfect combination of chewy peanut butter cookies and a chocolate kiss on top. A classic Christmas cookie found on every holiday cookie platter, this is one recipe for chocolate peanut butter cookies that gets made all year long.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Kiss Cookies
My favorite flavor combination of all time has to be peanut butter and chocolate. There is no other marriage of yumminess that goes together and completes each other as perfectly as the two.
I’ve wrote before how my husbands favorite holiday cookie are the Magic Bars. No matter how amazing those are … and they ARE amazing .. my personal favorite will always be these Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies .
The ultimate combination of chewy peanut butter cookie and a sweet chocolate kiss on top, buttery and rich all at the same time … believe me when I say that if lived by myself and didn’t have an accountability tracker (a.k.a. The Husband), I could gain 20 pounds over Christmas break just eating Peanut Butter Blossoms alone.
Give me a gallon a milk and a plate of warm, just out of the oven cookies … stand back or step aside before you get hurt!
Peanut Butter Blossoms
This recipe for peanut butter kiss cookies is a classic holiday favorite cookie and one you will find on every holiday cookie exchange and cookie platter.
There is a reason for that! These are amazing and easy to make. No fancy ingredients or complicated steps!
And let’s be honest, even though these are often thought of a holiday cookies, these peanut butter kiss cookies are perfect to make all year long.
Peanut Butter Kiss Ingredients
- Peanut butter – You could use either smooth or crunchy peanut butter for this peanut butter kiss recipe but I prefer to use creamy peanut butter. You want to choose a peanut butter that will not separate or needs to be stirred to be brought together.
- Butter – Softened to room temperature, I use salted butter but if that is a concern simply reduce the extra salt called for in this recipe.
- Sugar – You will be adding white sugar and brown sugar in this peanut butter cookie recipe and you will also be rolling your cookie balls in white sugar before baking.
- Eggs – Room temperature so that they mix into the batter better
- Brown sugar – Adds a rich sweetness to these cookies
- Milk – Moisture
- Vanilla extract – Flavor
- All purpose flour – Foundation of stability
- Baking soda – Leavening
- Salt – Flavor
- Chocolate kisses – Milk chocolate are my choice for this kiss cookie recipe but you can use dark chocolate or a holiday flavored kiss if you prefer.
Peanut Butter Cookies with Kisses
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and prepare cookie sheets by spraying them with non-stick cooking spray or lined with parchment paper,
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, peanut butter, brown sugar and 1 cup of the white sugar until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs one at time and then add in the milk and vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to your butter mixture in small batches, mixing thoroughly until both are incorporated.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
Place cookies on cookie sheets and gently press down on the cookies with the back side of a fork, flattening them slightly.
Bake for 9 minutes or until your cookies are a little puffy and slightly cracked.
Remove from the oven and while still on the cookie sheet, gently press a candy kiss into each cookie.
Carefully move the cookies to a cooling rack and let cool completely before moving them for storage.
Pro Tips for Perfect Peanut Butter Blossoms
- These soft and chewy peanut butter cookies are perfectly complimented by the Hershey kiss on top but if you are looking for just an easy peanut butter cookie recipe, feel free to leave the chocolate kiss off your cookies.
- Room temperature eggs and softened butter will incorporate into your batter easier and better.
- Removing the kisses from their silver wrapper is a huge pain but worth it.. although it does bear mentioning if you see the big bag of kisses sold without wrappers, it’s worth buying.
- I suggest adding the kisses while the cookies are still on the pan because when I did this step when they were already on the cooling rack, they partially pushed through into the rack and the bottoms of all my cookies had a funky crisscross design.. lesson learned .. lol
- If you are short on space and running out of room on your cooling rack, these are a bit problematic to move around while the kisses are warm.. when you add the kisses to a warm cookie, the chocolate kiss warms up and the chocolate will get everywhere. I move my cookies to a plate once the cookies have cooled and will move them to my refrigerator for a bit so that the chocolate kiss can set up again.
- This cookie recipe makes ALOT .. feel free to half this recipe or freeze what you may not need. This is my go-to peanut blossom recipe when it comes to holiday cookies so it’s written to make a lot
