Easy Apple Pear Crisp is the perfect new twist on a classic favorite dessert made of tender apples, pears and plenty of warm spices.Warm your belly and bring a smile to your face with this delicious recipe for Easy Apple Pear Crisp.
Fall is my favorite time of the year, hands down! The weather is so much more forgiving here in Florida and that makes all the difference in the world. In other places, people already have their coats, boots and gloves on but here in the Sunshine State we are hanging strong at a cool, crisp 93 DEGREES!!! .. and did I mention we have a hurricane barreling down on us right now??? Seriously??? So while my air conditioner is on High and I am sitting here in shorts and flip flops, this Easy Apple Pear Crisp recipe is for the rest of you friends that actually get to enjoy the change in the weather. And what better way to get into the spirit than an Easy Apple Pear Crisp to warm your belly and bring a smile to your face?
I know, I know … I’m complaining about my Pina Colada melting and you are breaking your back shoveling snow. We each have our own struggles.
But trust me, scarfing down this Easy Apple Pear Crisp is not one of them! I had no idea making a homemade apple crisp could be so easy and so painfully scrumptious right out of my very own oven. I say ‘painfully’ because guess who couldn’t wait for the crisp to cool down slightly .. from the temperature of molten lava?… (sigh) #burnedtongue
WHAT ARE THE BEST APPLES TO USE FOR APPLE CRISP?
When you are making an apple crisp, the tart and crisp apples work better than the sweeter varieties. Try Empire, Granny Smith or Honey Crisp apples for best results.
CAN YOU MAKE EASY APPLE PEAR CRISP AHEAD OF TIME?
Baked Easy Apple Pear Crisp freezes well for up to 3 months. Simply prepare the Easy Apple Pear Crisp as directed and freeze in a freezer to oven baking pan. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then warm in a 350°F (177°C) for 20 minutes or until heated through. However, I do not suggest preparing the crisp and storing it, unbaked, in the refrigerator because the topping will get soggy and mushy and that is never good.
HOW DO YOU MAKE EASY APPLE PEAR CRISP?
Easy! To make Easy Apple Pear Crisp, preheat oven to 375 degrees and spray a 9 x 9 baking pan with non-stick spray. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, flour, lemon, cream, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt until well mixed. Stir in pecans and apple and pear slices until fruit is well covered. Transfer Easy Apple Pear Crisp to baking pan. Using a food processor, add in flour, brown sugar, oats and cinnamon. Pulse to combine. Add in the chunks of cold butter and again pulse to combine. Pour into a small bowl and mix in the pecans. Sprinkle evenly over the apple and pears and bake Easy Apple Pear Crisp for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and let cool 15 minutes before serving
So while you are out with that big shovel clearing out your driveway from four feet of new fallen snow, know that you will have a hot, sweet, crunchy Easy Apple Pear Crisp reward waiting for you inside. Did I mention that I double crisped this recipe? Is that even a thing… double crisped? Oh well, it is now! I don’t know about you but my favorite part is always the crunchy crisp topping so when this recipe for Easy Apple Pear Crisp came to life, well, I just had to double up on the best part.
