DO I USE CREAMY OR CRUNCH PEANUT BUTTER FOR MY CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE?
This is completely up to you, my friends. I have made this recipe at different times using each and to be honest, it always comes out amazing so if you are a die hard crunchy fan, go for it!
DO I NEED TO REFRIGERATE MY NO BAKE CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE?
Yes, definitely refrigerate your No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. You are using whipped topping in the pie and that should always be refrigerated.
HOW DO YOU MAKE NO BAKE CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE?
Easy! To make your No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, start by making your pie crust. Take 25 of your favorite sandwich cookies and either pulverize them in a food processor until they are crumbs or put them into a plastic zip bag and crush them to death. Personally, I use the chocolate on chocolate kind, not because they lend a different flavor but because they are not my husbands favorite so this way I don’t have to fight him for what’s left over in the package and the rest are mine… all mine. Brilliant? Yes, I believe so. Moving on… Melt your butter and mix it in with your cookie crumbs and press it into the bottom and up the sides of a 9 inch pie pan. Set aside.
In a large bowl combine the cream cheese, sugar and peanut butter with a hand mixer until well combined. You can use whatever kind of peanut butter you have on hand, creamy, chunky.. it doesn’t matter. It’s all about your preference. Once your ingredients are well mixed, fold in 8 oz of your whipped topping. This is the part that probably takes the longest because you are bringing together something that is very dense with something that is delicate and light. Take your time and fold it into the peanut butter mixture until it is all incorporated.
I feel I need to stop here and introduce someone (by the way, can we all tell I am writing this post before coffee??) This is my Haley. Her life revolves around two things. Barking at non-existent things and peanut butter. I don’t care how quiet we are, she can hear the top of a peanut butter spin off from across the house and she will come running. Needless to say, she’s supervising the making of this pie.
Back to work… Now that you have your No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie filling, scoop it into your pie shell and set aside. Next, add your chocolate morsels into a bowl and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. Bring your milk to a low boil in a small saucepan on your stove top and then pour your milk over the chocolate. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes and then whisk until smooth. Pour your chocolate over the peanut butter filling and then pop that bad boy in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
Oh my… isn’t that the sexiest thing you have seen all day? Now pack your bags ‘cuz you are going to Heaven!!!!
This No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie brings together the best of both worlds. The chocolate is rich and decadent while the filling is light and full of peanut butter flavor. If you like the two flavor combinations together, this No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie will become your new favorite dessert somewhere between bite #1 and bite #2.
